Usage
Ketrel should be used under medical supervision. Retinoids such as Ketrel are potent vitamin A derivatives which need to be gradually introduce dinto your skincare regimen. Our recommended protocol is as follows:
- Week 1: use once
- Week 2: use twice
- Week 3: use 3 times
- Week 4: use 4 times
Frequency can be kept as little as 2 times a week however more impressive results are seen with more regular use. Ketrel should only be used before bed on dry skin after cleansing. This is to avoid skin irritation. A strict sun protection regimen of SPF and sun avoidance where possible should be implemented as the positive effects of tretinoin may be offset by sun damage, and excessive heat and sunlight can cause skin irritation during the acclimatisation period.
Considerations
It's important to note that the effectiveness of Ketrel (Tretinoin Cream, USP (Emollient) 0.05%) in mitigating fine wrinkles, mottled hyperpigmentation, and tactile roughness hasn't been established in individuals over 50 years of age or those with moderately to heavily pigmented skin. Additionally, clinical trials excluded patients with visible actinic keratoses and a history of skin cancer, leaving the effectiveness and safety of Ketrel in these populations unknown at this time.
